LIVERY

Livery Services - back in house from October 2007 - our team have plenty of experience in owning and running livery premises, and we have BHS approval

Indoor Stabling in a light airy American barn.  Stables are Loddon internals, and the barn is a large converted agricultural building, well ventilated and solid

We have plenty of post and rail fenced paddocking, so that horses can be turned out for as long as required.  There will be odd days when turn out is not available if weather is too bad, but we have a horse walker and lunge pen, so your horse will not be stuck in the stable

The outdoor and indoor arenas at the Equestrian Centre are available at most times, within the price, for livery use.  Typically during the day at weekends it will be either indoor or outdoor arenas available, but earlier or later in the day it will be both.  Full BSJA courses are available after jumping in the 60 x 30 indoor arena (winter) or 80 x 60 outdoor (summer), the 40 x 30 indoor arena remains available for flatwork at all times.  Outdoor arena regularly set up with dressage arenas

The Team at The College Equestrian Centre have decided to offer a full range of livery services in house .

The aim is to have a set of costs and services that are sustainable, transparent and fair.  Staff are critical to a well run yard and all costings are based on allowing a realistic amount of time for a job.  Grooms need to be able to spend an extra 5 minutes on a horse if it is “not looking quite right”.

Rather than fitting services to a price, all services are costed and the horse owner can chose how much they want to spend by deciding what work they want to pay for.

All prices are exclusive of feed and forage, these will be supplied at retail price, based on what is being fed to a horse.  A difficult horse will cost more to feed, but the ration will be what it needs rather than what we can afford to feed it; a good doer will be cheaper.

Labour is calculated at £7.50 per hour, this is not the rate of pay staff are on, but an overall average fee that we believe is sustainable allowing for holiday cover, employers contributions, training etc.

Fees are scaled up from a stable / grazing / facilities / utilities cost of £35 per week, which can be used as a DIY livery price.  This and all other packages include the stable, access to yard facilities and access on a shared basis to facilities at The College Equestrian Centre.

If DIYs wish to come into our feed provision, then feed preparation is costed at 50p per day to have all feeds prepared including the correct incorporation of additives supplied by liveries, is optional for DIYs, can make their own feed & leave out to be fed with rest.  All horses will be fed at the same time by yard staff

Stable management of Mucking out daily, then skipping out twice a day, changing hay nets, cleaning water and checking the horse is content is costed at £5 per day in either a five day Monday to Friday package or a seven day per week service.

Easibed and straw the yard bedding offered at £5.50 per bale shavings or £2.00 per bale straw inclusive of any VAT

Turn out will cost more in the winter than the summer, as it takes much longer in the winter.  Summer rate of £1.25 per day is for turning out & bringing in, with no rug changes and 4 turn out boots if required.  Winter rate of £3.75 allows for changing between stable & turn out rugs, cleaning of horse and boots as required (it can be a dirty muddy job).  Turn out in winter will normally be offered as a 3 or 4 day per week option.  Groups will be allocated for Monday, Wednesday Friday; or Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday.  Your horse will be turned out regularly at the same time, sharing in the same small group of normally 2 but possibly 3 horses.  If one of the horses does not go out, it is fine to turn out one on its own provided there are other horses visible in a nearby paddock.  Winter turn out groups are likely to be based on 10:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 16:00 blocks of time.  If your horse needs to go out every day, this may be possible by arrangement.

As an example of prices  - All plus forage & feed

DIY would cost £35, all horses to be fed at the same time by our staff

5 day mucking out with 2 bales straw (owner turns out) would cost £67.70 plus forage & feed

5 day mucking out, 1 bale easibed, turned out 3 days by us would cost £80.25 (winter) £72.75 (summer)

7 day mucking out, 1 bale easibed, turn out 4 days per week would cost £90.50 (winter)

All plus feed & forage

Easibed has been chosen as yard bedding because they claim that it will be much better value than shavings once a bed is established, and that 1 bale per week is realistic.  If it does not work then we will move to shavings.

Liveries will e invoiced for there core agreed service in 12 even monthly charges, feed and bedding will be invoiced on the quantity used through the month.  £35 DIY would be charged at £152 PCM
